History

George Foster and Tom Rollins started Jefferson Barracks Marine Service, Inc. in 1976 as a barge fleeting and switching service, operating 4 boats in the St. Louis Harbor. As the industry changed, JBMS changed its focus to barge cleaning and repair services.

In October of 1999, the barge cleaning and repair service was acquired by George Foster who started his own company, JB Marine Service, Inc. In the summer of 2008 a 4th dry dock was added to expand its services to the industry. With four dry docks, a machine shop and five floating cranes, JB Marine Service, Inc. employs over 100 people, which includes office personnel, machinists, welders, pilots, deckhands, and barge cleaners.

JB Marine Service, Inc. is affiliated with several trade organizations, including, The American Waterways Operators (AWO) and the Waterway's Council, Inc. (WCI).
